Chard Métis Nation
Preserving and promoting the Métis way of life.
Message from the CEO
2025 was a year of momentum, opportunity, and strategic growth for Chard Métis Nation and the Chard Métis Dene Group of Companies. As CEO, I am proud of the progress we made in strengthening our economic foundation while ensuring that every initiative continues to benefit our community.
Our approach to economic development is intentional and values-driven. Through Chard Métis Dene Group of Companies, we focused on building partnerships in niche markets that align with our long-term vision. These partnerships are not just about revenue—they are about creating employment opportunities, supporting training and education, improving infrastructure, and enhancing overall quality of life for our members.
A significant milestone in our strategic growth was the acquisition of Canadian Overhead Doors. As the first company to be wholly owned by the Chard Métis Nation, this achievement marks a major step forward in our journey toward economic sovereignty. This acquisition is more than a business transaction; it represents a new chapter of direct ownership and a powerful new stream of opportunity that will benefit our members for generations.
This year, we also saw meaningful expansion in career and workforce development. Community-driven training, certifications, and employment supports helped members build confidence, gain skills, and access meaningful work. These efforts directly contribute to economic independence and long-term sustainability for our Nation.
Looking ahead, we are preparing for major capital and economic projects, including the proposed gas station and community space at 257 Nokohoo Road, as well as new business and infrastructure opportunities. These initiatives have the potential to generate revenue, create jobs, and strengthen local services for years to come. I want to thank our partners, staff, leadership, and community members for their collaboration and trust. Together, we are building an economy that reflects our values, supports our people, and creates lasting opportunity.
Respectfully,
Justin Herman
Chief Executive Officer
