Chard Métis Nation Makes History with Inaugural Reverse Trade Show and Career Fair
The Chard Métis Nation is a beacon of community spirit and progression, and this was on full display at the inaugural reverse trade show and career fair on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
This unique event, held in the heart of our community, brought together business partners, community members, and industry representatives in an unprecedented showcase of capacity and potential.
The event was a vibrant mix of business showcases, job opportunities, and community engagement. From the get-go, there was a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation as attendees explored the various booths and displays set up by our esteemed business partners. These partners, each contributing to the growing capacity of the Chard Métis Nation, ranged from local businesses to major industry players.
One of the highlights of the fair was the opportunity for Chard citizens to learn about new job prospects directly from these businesses. Attendees had the chance to apply for work, explore career avenues, and even participate in draw prizes. The fair also served as a platform for citizens to begin the process for their citizenship cards—a significant step towards recognizing and affirming our Métis identity.
What set this event apart was not just the range of businesses and opportunities on display, but also the innovative approach to community engagement. The reverse trade show format allowed businesses to take a backseat and let community members drive the conversation. This not only empowered our citizens but also gave businesses invaluable insights into our community's needs, aspirations, and potential. Of course, we have to give special mention to our partner, CMD Hines Health Services, and Kristi Hines who went the extra mile to bring an ice sculpture to the event; which served cool cranberry spritzers as an added bonus!
The atmosphere throughout the day was positively electric. Laughter, conversation, and the buzz of potential deals filled the air, punctuated by the excited cheers of prize draw winners. But beyond the excitement, there was a sense of unity and shared purpose—a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Chard Métis Nation.
